I can't find the post now, but someone asked about small trees for a small garden. I'm currently in the process of developing a native only back garden in my new build house. I hope this can give some ideas!
And apologies for the roughness of the written plans. It really was supposed to be notes just to myself. Measurements are written in inches (pencil) and cm (ink).
The bare root trees are going in this week, while some of the larger specimens are currently on order.

I got 10 trees and two holly bushes from Connectingtonature.ie It was my post maybe? It’s for my in-laws. I have a much smaller garden with a cherry out back and a Kowhai out front.
I want to add also, that this design is in coordination with my favorite garden centre, Green Piece in County Cork.
I wouldn’t have thought hazel / yew etc are small trees? That’s a very small space considering how much they spread.
Holly and dog rose. Just trim the top steam when they getting too high
