His Majesty King Charles III is remaining steadfast during his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s scandal, attending royal engagements as normal and running his royal residences like clockwork. This year, the monarch has launched an exciting programme of garden tours at his beloved country home, Highgrove.
The series includes eight different experiences on topics like pot plants, herbs, compost and more! His Majesty’s team revealed all in an Instagram post on Tuesday. It read: “New for 2026: Garden Experiences at Highgrove. Discover our unique Garden Experiences, learning from expert gardeners and garden guides at Highgrove, followed by a delicious cream tea or elegant afternoon tea. Meet the Head of Horticulture at the @kingsfoundation, Melissa Simpson. Wildflower meadow management. Potting in the garden. Topiary experience. And many more… Selected dates between May and October. Find out more via the link in our bio.”
One fan said they were “looking forward” to the experiences and another added: “Simply beautiful”. The first one begins on 12 May, which is when spring will be in full bloom.
Charles’ glorious award-winning garden
The King has owned Highgrove since 1980 and regularly retreats to his countryside abode with his wife, Queen Camilla. The grounds are extra special to Charles as he has worked very hard to build them, and they contain a series of individual ‘outdoor rooms’ that are open to the public during the summer months. Among these is the Carpet Garden, which won a silver-gilt medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show back in 2001 and was based on a sketch from King Charles, inspired by a Turkish carpet inside his property.

Eco credentials
It is thought that the 15 acres of gardens and the surrounding 900-acre estate have become somewhat of a passion project for the King. He has spent the last three decades completely transforming the land into an organic farm, strictly limiting the use of antibiotics and other harmful chemicals. His recent eco documentary, Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision, highlighted his unwavering dedication to the cause. Talking about the documentary, he said: “It is my fondest hope that this film may encourage a new audience to learn about the philosophy of Harmony – and perhaps inspire the same sense of determination it has given me to help build a more sustainable future.”

A magical setting all year round
While the summer may be the perfect time to admire Charles’ hard work in the garden, the grounds are also rather magical in the colder months. In December last year, the team shared a photograph of part of the garden covered by a dusting of snow. “Beautiful. The garden is so inspirational,” penned one fan, as another wrote: “Such a beautiful place,” while a third declared the photo as “magical”.
