As people start venturing outdoors to prepare their gardens for the summer months, This Morning gardening expert David Domoney has revealed one essential tip for achieving optimal results. The specialist, who also co-presents ITV’s Love Your Garden alongside Alan Titchmarsh, suggests that welcoming a “tiny hero” into your garden can lead to healthier roses, more robust vegetable plants, and effective pest control – all with minimal effort.
In an Instagram post, the presenter explained that getting this right will allow “nature do the hard work for you”. He stated: “The ladybird or ladybug is the tiny hero you should be encouraging to live in your garden.”

He continued: “Ladybirds are one of the most powerful natural allies you can have in your garden – and their impact is extraordinary. A single ladybird can eat up to 50 aphids a day, while their larvae are even more effective. That means healthier roses, stronger veg plants, and far fewer pest problems all without lifting a finger.”
The gardening specialist noted that the advantages extend further, as they also:

He emphasised: “Encourage ladybirds, and you’re creating a garden that works with nature, not against it.” He also outlined how to attract these beneficial insects by planting nectar-rich flowers such as calendula, dill, fennel, and yarrow, reports the Mirror.
David assured: “They’ll keep them coming back even when pests are low. A tiny insect… with a huge impact. Save this and let nature do the hard work for you.”
