This is a Monstera Deliciosa . Neighbors were moving and no longer wanted it and left it for anybody to take.

This is exactly how I found it. I want to repot and propagate her. The roots are very dense.

Any tips based on what you see?

Edit: It said monstera philodendron on the drainage pot but was told otherwise.

The is wrong is a Monstera Deliciosa. If I were i would ask to the neighbors how they used to care it. It’s a little messy but it looks very healthy.

If you want to repot it wait a week or so to let it acclimate to its new home.

    Positively massive Monstera Deliciosa.
However, that is one of the most clusterfuck moss pole tie jobs I have ever seen.
It does look like you’d have an exceptional top cutting.

    My personal recommendation:

Take as much of the thick stem as possible( keep the arial roots!).

Let the cut dry and harden for several hours (I do about 24 hours).

After that you can put some rooting compound on the arial roots and put them in water.

Wait a few weeks until there is an adequate root system and then place the roots into a large pot (that drains), and fill with a high quality and coarse soil medium.

You absolutely MUST use a large stake or moss pole to support the stem.

Place her in a window that gets significant sunlight, or use a large grow light.

Untie those petioles! Give it more light.

Great find. I cut at the nodes, let it air out for a day. Then I planted in soil and tied the plant with cooking twine to a moss pole (don’t recommend these but i had it on hand). Loves water.
