This summer has been such a struggle. I can't wait for some rain. Haven't had decent rain since September 😢
Nice stiff going on in the garden 🏡
hi, new to this channel. I am west of Brisbane and this summer has been horrible growing in the garden. we have missed out in so much of the rain. But it is good to find a channel that I can follow to see when and what can be grown in the South Tropics. I have some seed trays ready and I am hoping that when they are ready to be planted out in the garden beds that it will not be as hot. fingers crossed for something to work this time. Even though the carrots didn't grow very big because I left them in I now have some that have gone to flower and will collect the seeds. I love cauliflower so I will plant more into trays, so thanks for that tip.
I’m on the Gold Coast, I’m so fired up to get planting but it’s already so hot! 4-10
Degrees above average this whole summer 😱 last year I dropped the ball and didn’t plant seedlings out till May and I only JUST made it in time to harvest my cauliflower and cabbage🤣
That osmocote seedling mix sucks! Last bag I got was so bark heavy, complete joke that they even call it a seedling mix, was closer to mulch! It's fine after sieving but I also have to add some compost in because like you said it's very light on nutrients. I avoid osmocote entirely now, none of their products thrill me.
Definitely been a harsh dry summer 😊
I don't understand the " no rain " thing, do you not have a tap, a hose ?❤
I'm having so much trouble with small grasshoppers, they leave nothing
How do you get away with planting garlic and onion before the end of the rainy season (May/June)? Last year I lost my garlic crop when their was too much rain. The onions went better (as bulbs) about mid-year. Gladalian Brown and bunching onions
Kebun yang sangat indah dan nyaman,, aku akan bahagia sekali bila mempunyai kebun sayur seperti itu❤😊
I copped some rain tonight, hope you got some too. Have a good one
Droughts -i am 76yo located sub tropics central qld-subject DROUGHTS – plant out first-then Mulch your garden at least to a height of 6inches before summer otherwise soil temp is too high and plants will die off this will also help with water retention as less evaporation takes place it doesn't hurt to install shade cloth on really exposed beds this also helps -use water spikes or olla pots if you can afford -card board under mulch also works (soak it in water before using then cove with mulch also pre wet ) .I keep a bale of open mulch at the end of each garden bed so that when it rains the mulch gets soaked before i put on garden to replace broken down mulch in the garden .
Yeah, im still adjusting from Canberra to seqld mountain climate😅. so i didnt get anything in the garden this season, the rains coming down today. The grasshoppers ate ALL my spinach and kale 😢and having a go at everything else. I have a tub of 20 mangoes to figure out how to process this week. Its not my property and its very steep , big property but i only have maybe 10m2 in narrow bed down the side of my house next to steep slope. No green house. The brush turkeys and rodents and badicoots get into things a lot too 😅.
I have alot of pots im trying to get better at watering!
Oh no! When is cherry season in Australia ?
00:57 is that tapioca/cassava? I tried planting but no luck. In Perth.
Where do you get your garlic from?
Do you have a video of what you recommend for seed raising mix. I’ve just ordered from you and I only have the one you showed in the video. Can anything be added to it or is it just as you recommended, to liquid fertiliser
Just found your channel. I moved here last year from a cool/temperate climate (NZ), where I had a big garden for decades. Gardening here was a real shock to the system. I have discovered that half the things I used to grow won't even grow here, and everything else really struggles. Have had to completely change my ideas on gardening, and what I eat and the way I cook.
On the upside, the eggplants and chilies that never grew more than 45cm tall and never had more than a couple fruit (if any) there, and basil that only ever got one stem and a few leaves, have grown into small trees and taken over the garden here 😂😂😂. It has been quite a journey.
What a great and smartly done video full of tips and not too short or too long. 👍.
Northern Rivers here. Yep. Summer's the problem child. I grow asparagus, cukes, pineapple, okra, watermelon, sweet potato and that's all. Everything else is a waste of time.
