Coast Guard surveys flooded Hawaii neighborhoods after flash floods
A Coast Guard crew surveyed Waialua and Haleiwa neighborhoods after heavy rain in Hawaii and searched for signs of distress.
The Sandusky Sow and Hoe Garden Club will hold its 17th Annual Perennial Plant Sale May 16 at Sandusky’s Diamond Trail from 9 a.m. to noon, according to a community announcement.
The club says its mission is to support the community’s landscaping and beautification efforts, and the plants offered at the sale come from members’ own gardens.
According to the announcement, several vendors will participate in the event. Poncho Villa Cocina’s food trailer will serve breakfast items, including burritos, tacos and specialty coffee. Legacy Coffee LLC, featuring Kavuzi coffee sourced from a family farm in Malawi, will also be on-site. Additional vendors include Knead Bread and Baked Goods with muffins, buns and donuts; The Stone Mill with tallow-based scrubs and natural cosmetics; and Fonts by Flo with handmade cards, garden posts and plant stakes.
Other participants include Hale Family Farms with bouquet subscriptions and U-pick options, as well as Growing Love and Memories Cut Flower Farm, which will offer information on subscriptions, special orders, flower stand availability and dried or pressed flower items, according to the announcement. The Butterfly and Hummingbird Memorial Gardens at Diamond Trail will share information about its projects and distribute free native milkweed seeds.
Handcrafted wood products from Ray Jagotka, including birdhouses, feeders and wooden wagon wheels, will also be available. The Rusty Spark, operated by Cody and Emily Wheeler, will offer plasma-cut sheet metal garden markers, novelty signs, butterflies and plant hangers, according to the announcement.
