Controlled fire near community garden in Saline County grows out of control

ASSARIA, Kan. (KWCH) – A controlled burn got out of control in Saline County on Saturday afternoon.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office said three structures were burned near Assaria’s community garden.

The garden had permission to clean up the area with a controlled burn. Despite watering down the area and having multiple garden hoses on hand, the fire grew out of control and jumped a barrier. It burned a park shelter and two sheds.

No one was hurt in the fire.
