Mexican feather grass looks like this a week after planting – should I cut it back or leave it?

    If there is still green it’s alive and you can just water it until it establishes. I’ve never trimmed mine. I think some people do trim in the winter during dormancy.

  2. I’m generally cut back new transplants so the roots don’t have to support all those blades while getting established. I also cut mine back after it blooms and gets fuzzy so it looks better and spreads less. When I cut it back I try to not go too far down and leave some green, maybe leave ~2-3 inches.

    Just curious, where did you get it? I want to get some but the nursery I was at wanted $35 per plant, which seemed insane to me. I am curious if they might be cheaper elsewhere.
