Repotted my philodendron: useless or useful?

Okay, so I thought repotting this philodendron, which we bought 3 months ago, was a good idea, as it had grown from roughly half a meter to over a meter. I heard good things about moss poles, so I decided to go along that route. I have no experience with moss poles or philodendrons, so far, but I am willing to learn.

Please tell me if I messed up, and where I messed up.
