The winter garden where I normally put my bucernea during the winter got far too cold this year and the top went all mushy. I'm still hopeful because some parts are firmer and white/yellow instead of soft and brown. Should I trim deeper into the brown part or leave it as it is?

Sucks! It looks like you’ve cut all the rot already. I’d suggest using cut paste on that cut or garden sulfur at the very least. Should send up new shoots
