Two summers ago the blades were too low on the lawnmower the professionals used and it destroyed my lawn. I have spent so much money on grass seeds that are not working. I’m tired.

Ideas on what I can put in these spots? Plants? Rocks?

There’s this guy on tik tok that digs on those spots and usually finds a boulder underneath.

That looks like lack of water during hot spells, not mower issue.

Anyway you should get a hard rake and stuff up all the thin bare spots, then get the yard aerated with the plug style machine. Place proper perennial seed for your climate (don’t use annual or quick fill types) and then top dress the yard with compost or composted peat moss (you want spongy soil high in organic material). Shoot to have 1/2 to 3/4 inch of top dressing. The existing grass should grow through and new seed should fill. The soil temp needs to be above 60 degrees F for seed to sprout. Then water regularly until seed is 3 inches high. Water as needed when hot or dry.

Looks like compacted soil to me. Aerate and topdress with high quality topsoil.
