It might be only March but a burst of warm weather and blue skies has already been seen, sending many people’s thoughts racing ahead to summer. Supermarkets and discount stores have all stocked up on everything from lighting to furniture ready to help make the most of whatever outside space is available.
Home Bargains has a wide range of products available, which it says means shoppers will be able to find something that suits them, no matter how big the space they have. And one item is promised to be ideal for “any outdoor space”.

Its Firefly Solar Light Co Ribbed Table Lantern Solar Light is said to be energy-efficient and eco-friendly and is priced £4.99. It says: “Light up your garden with the Firefly Solar Light Co Ribbed Table Lantern, featuring energy-saving warm white LEDs and a sleek white design that’s eco-friendly and stylish.
“Perfect for adding a cosy glow to any outdoor space.” And its product description goes on: “Brighten up your garden or patio with the Firefly Solar Light Co Ribbed Table Lantern, featuring energy-efficient warm white LEDs and a sleek white design that’s both eco-friendly and stylish.”
The light is 30.5cm in height. It is said to have “long-lasting LEDs that automatically turn on at dusk and off at dawn, providing reliable illumination without additional energy costs”. It is also solar powered with no wiring required and has a rechargeable battery.
It explains: “The solar panel absorbs sunlight during the day to power the lights at night, making them eco-friendly and cost-effective.” The description adds it comes in a “sleek white design” adding it has a: “modern, stylish white finish that complements any outdoor decor, ideal for gardens and patios.”

However, if you want something that looks similar but has additional features, shoppers might get what they want off the B&Q website. It is selling a rechargeable, cordless LED table lamp which has dimmable touch control and can be used inside or outside.
According to its product description, you can customise the height and choose from three colour temperatures: warm, warm white, and daylight. Its built-in rechargeable battery will last for up to 10 hours on the brightest setting and is also waterproof, with it adding: “this lamp is both robust and aesthetically pleasing”.
It adds: “Brighten up any space with this versatile and stylish LED table lamp. Perfect for creating the right mood, whether you’re relaxing indoors or enjoying a summer evening outside.
“Its cordless design and long-lasting rechargeable battery mean you’re never tied to a power socket, while the simple touch controls make adjusting the light effortless. Add a touch of modern elegance and practical illumination wherever you need it most.”
Unlike the Home Bargains one, this needs to be charged via a USB cable, with a full charge taking eight hours. It will then last up to between 10 and 24 hours per charge, depending on the setting being used.
It is pricier at £19.29 – but that is a saving of £1.89 on its original selling price of £21.18. Unlike the Home Bargains lamp, it is not available in store and must be purchased online.
