Would a pull behind yard rake collect small sticks and braches like these ? Yard is a couple of acres with trees throughout. Currently, cleaning up the mowable yard is an all day chore with lots of hand raking and bending. Was wondering if the tines on the pull behind rake would actually grab and collect the sticks or just grab the ones sitting on top of grass but not the ones on the ground. I do have a lawn sweeper for leaf collection in the fall; that will grab a very small amount sticks if they happen to be oriented correctly or is a small cluster of leaves on a branch

Some of the smaller ones will, but they get caught up and then you gotta go and take him out. It’s a real pain in the ass. In the past, I’ve invited neighbourhood kids over for a big bonfire and had them pick up as many sticks as they could to feed the Fire and find the perfect marshmallow roaster and things. I also use a rake, yeah manual rake, I have 5 acres of forest and spring cleanup is a real pain in my ass too.

Throw the sticks in areas you don’t mow, it’s basically your mulch

Or get 2 German sheppards ti work and guard your property

    They are excellent branch managers

I use a long handled trash picker upper tool for picking up the sticks that are to large to mow over.

First year on my property. This morning, I walked around my property picking up sticks.

I was hoping to find some kind of tool to pickup sticks but haven’t found anything yet. The closest I’ve found, a pull behind yard sweeper, seems to just be for leaves.

We have a harrow that we use drag the pasture. Its basically 2 4’x4′ steel grids with 6″ spikes designed to break up thatched grass. After a wind event I pull half of it behind the 4 wheeler around the yard to gather sticks from the willow trees. It works pretty well. Not perfect but it will gather about 75%of the sticks.

This is why you’re supposed to have kids. Generations of men in the past :

“Stop running around the house and go pick up sticks in the yard”

    I don’t understand the problem?

All I see are a few twigs.
