Winning and shortlisted images will go on display in a large outdoor exhibition at the gardens from 13 May to 29 June.

The annual showcase transforms the site into an open air gallery, featuring award winning work from around the world alongside selected local entries.

Organisers said the exhibition had become a highlight of the gardens’ events calendar, attracting visitors keen to see some of the best botanical photography.

They added the competition offered a chance for people to explore one of the UK’s most significant botanic gardens while developing their photography skills.

To support those entering, the gardens are offering a 20 per cent discount on standard admission tickets booked online before the closing date.

The competition is open to anyone aged over 18, with all images required to have been taken at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
