Seven-year-old nephew came by was alone in the backyard and he ended up cutting off the top of my Venus fly trap. I’ve never seen them grow this bulb before and is really upsetting also he poured sand over the whole thing watching them all close. Two were packed with sand.

That is a flower stem that broke off. They take a lot of energy to grow so it is often recommended to remove anyways.
Some of the leaves will probably die since so many were falsely triggered and still have sand in them. Not all that closed will die and the ones that didn’t close should be totally fine.
Gotta love other people’s kids fucking up your stuff. Sorry that happened hopefully they are usually a cool nephew lol
Sandy traps will probably die, that stem thing would have been a flower. I think people usually remove them so the plant doesn’t focus on the wrong thing energy wise
Literally just nipped the stalks off all mine today but on purpose. It’ll grow better for it. But still is a bummer since you looked forward to it. Your plants will be totally fine! 😀
I’d probably try to tidy out the middle growth point a bit but make sure not to damage it. Maybe wipe sand out of there with qtip or something
