Hey landscapers. I’m looking for some advice on a landscaping problem in my tiered back yard (UK). I’ve owned the house 5 years. Previous owner owned since new from the 70s.
As the video shows, upper level has sunk, because the stacked stone-built wall on lower level has collapsed. Seems to be due to the lack of drainage and/or footings. It’s happened over the last few months during a very very long spell of rain (UK).
Would like to rebuild /retain the stone feature if possible.
Can this be DIY’d? If so, whats the most economical way?

This can’t be diy. It is dangerous for you to be there. Contact a local earth/structural engineering company. Be safe dude.
Absolutely not a DIY. This is going to require a redesign and permitting. An 8 foot walls retaining lateral soil pressure is no joke and can kill someone if it fails.
This is a pro job, and should be addressed immediately.
Yea dude. Don’t do that yourself.
At a glance, this looks like a difficult project with bad access for equipment. Big risk of undermining the patios. Wall needs aggregate backfill and drainage.
Maybe check out gabion baskets.
Appreciate the honesty folks, I’ll get some pros in.
So I don’t get my pants pulled down on the price , what should a pro be telling me here on the correct process for this scenario?
Someone in my town died last year from something like that collapsing and suffocating him. Was trying to work on it diy.
That wall is stunning!!!! As someone who owns a landscape compay and has a red seal in masonry i will caution, Most landscapers are not capable of rebuilding that beautiful wall. They will say they can but that wall takes skill to build!! Ask your landscaper to provide photos of similar work they have done. Or contact reputable masonry companies! They deal with stone walls more than landscapers!
Either way at 8ft tall to do it legally you will need to get an engineer involved. A good landscape or masonry company can help walk you through the process or take it on themselves.
Where are you located.
