I got it, it was a beautiful creature but it killed my oldest rooster & his girlfriend (they were living in my basement due to younger/ bigger roosters picking on him)

I use my basement as a sick-bay/ holding coop (it's climate controls and I thought was safe)

The weasel crawled in through my drain that's in the basement push past steel wool and I have to check the opening of the drain at the far end of my back property, I now have the drain blocked off completely which trapped him in my basement while I actively had trap set out to catch him while this morning I got him

Now my question is do the prints in the dust on my dehumidifier match the weasels? Or do we think there's a bigger one in the basement?

Could’ve caged it and release far away. Sad that you have to kill wildlife because you failed to protect them but lessons learned? Defend them first and trap later if needed.

You just killed your best rodent control. Secure your animals instead.

So you blocked the pipe. Problem solved. She’s not coming back inside. Why not just put her back outside and she’ll go home. Why did you feel the need to kill her and make a trophy post? Because she made a meal of two old birds? Sounds like the best case scenario, unless you were planning to eat them yourself. Even then, this is a revenge killing. You’re mad that a predator did what it’s supposed to do. Do you also go out and shoot the river every time it floods its banks?
