Hello,
I planted these lilly pilly straight and narrow variant last year and it has grown a bit during summer.
They were all planted from tubestock so I thought they would have a main trunk and branches shoot to the side but it seems some of them are kinda shooting sideways and do not have a main trunk.
Do I need to prune/trim these yet? Or let them grow as they like until they are taller?

I saw the first pic and thought, ‘no, probably a bit small really’. Scrolled through and I still think they need another year. Not this coming spring, but the year after.
Just the tips.
I’d get a hedge trimmer or secateurs and take off the very top and sides, like just an inch or so. Then once it’s grown another 30cm, take off another little bit. Also trying to shape the front to be flatish.
Assuming you want to hedge them?
Look up the details online, I’ve done it in the past but IIRC to stop them becoming trees – once they are at half the eventual height you want, cut the main “trunk” stem back, it’ll then branch out 2 or 3 ways and the plant will become more of a bush than a tree with little under growth. Trim it all from time to time and face it off when it grows outwards at the front until it hits the height you want.
