Spring is here, and it’s the perfect time for shoppers to start planning a garden refresh. Home Bargains has just the budget-friendly solutions to brighten up outdoor spaces.
With more than 600 stores across the UK, the discount retailer is known for homeware, furniture, arts and crafts, beauty, and children’s toys. Its growing selection of garden accessories is also catching shoppers’ attention.
One item in particular appears to be taking the limelight. Fans of outdoor décor are drawn to its mix of style and practicality.
The Firefly Hanging Basket Solar Light helps you “illuminate your garden” for a mere £4.99. But please note, flowers are not included.
“Brighten up your garden with the Firefly Hanging Basket Solar Light,” reads the product description on the Home Bargains website. “This charming light comes with a rechargeable battery included for hassle-free use.
“It’s easy to install – simply hang it with the included chain and hook. The light automatically turns on at dusk, casting a beautiful glow with its warm SMD LED white lighting.”
It continues “The rattan effect basket adds a rustic touch to your outdoor space, and with a diameter of 26cm, it’s the perfect size to add warmth and style to your garden or patio.” Home Bargains states it comes with a rechargeable battery too so you can keep your outdoors alight for nights on end.

There are a number of similar alternatives available at other retailers, namely B&Q, which stocks the Taylor & Brown Rattan Solar Hanging Basket. The first main difference between the two, however, is the price, sitting at a more expensive £12.99.
A B&Q spokesperson explained: “The Taylor & Brown Rattan Effect Solar Powered Hanging Basket combines style and functionality to enhance your outdoor space. This elegant plastic flower planter features a rattan effect design and integrated SMD LED lights for a beautiful night-time display.
“Powered by solar energy, it charges during the day and illuminates at dusk, offering an eco-friendly and energy-efficient lighting solution. Complete with a sturdy chain for easy hanging, this planter is perfect for gardens, patios, balconies, or any outdoor area, blending seamlessly with your landscape decor.”
Both the Home Bargains and B&Q basket lights share the same sleek black design. They’re also almost identical in size, with the B&Q version measuring just 27cm wide – only 1cm more than the Home Bargains version.
Interested shoppers can find out more, such as product dimensions and other features, on the B&Q website. Meanwhile, should you opt for the £8 cheaper alternative at Home Bargains, details such as how to arrange home delivery can also be found online.
