A few weeks ago i got my first bonsai. Small portulacaria afra. It was recommended to me to repot after a little over a month since the soil it came with was very wrong.

So thats what i did today and i hope i did it right.

Waited until the old soil was bone dry, gently removed him from the old pot, gently removed the old soil and washed off the rest. Left it to dry on a oaper towel for an hour while i was preparing the pot. Added an wire anchor and a mesh and added a small layer of specially mixed bonsai soil. Then added the bonsai, positioned it slightly tilted, fixed it with wire so that its stable, filled up with spoil, did the hokey pokey with the chopstick, gently tapped the top layer flat, added back the daruma and put it back under its lights.

Currently my main battle is still light. It grows very fast and happily but the intermodes are a bit long i think so it could get a tad more light. Im running a 7W and a 14W spot just close enough to not thermically roast the tree. If my measurements are right, the crown currently recieves somewhat around 800 to 900 PPFD at the closest spots to the light, still around 600 PPFD at the core of the crown and at least around 300 PPFD at the soil level. Lights are running 12h per day.
