I have this monstera that developed spots on it over a few months. It was a cutting from a wrecked (from my cat) plant that was sitting in water rooting for months. I finally potted it maybe 2 weeks ago. These spots have been there long before potting, and cannot be wiped off or removed. I don’t keep the dirt wet. Any help?

Scissors and a neem/castille/rubbing alcohol bath just for safety on the leaves is what I would do …

if there isn’t any new spots, it may just be damage from being knocked over, or it could be kitty teeth and claw damage. most cats love a little chomp of a plant lol

My monstera got a couple of those after I repotted it to a chunky soil with worm castings.

Chatgpt said it was because it nutrient overload and watering after the repot that cuased it. Something about the plant cells exploding and leaving a scar.

I am not sure if thats correct or not, but my plant is now thriving and developing its first leaf.

The spots look like you sprayed something on them. I’ve had issues with spraying when the sun is out. Spraying anything, including water. It’s silly because I know not to do that with my outside garden, but didn’t think it would matter much inside. Now I spray when the suns not out. Even when spraying just water, I saw some spots on the leaves that were in the sun. Maybe like the water drops amplified the strength of the sun on that spot. I have not done any research, just stopped spraying when the sun was out and it’s been better for my plants.
