For people afraid of their Portulacaria Afras getting a bit wrinkly…
This is what 'don't water until you see a new growth' really means.
Those plants were heavily trimmed and repotted a week ago. I stopped watering about a week before that. Now they are ready to finally get some moisture.
I am new with taking care of P. Afra. Is it recommended to torture them without watering?
I am watering them after 4-6 days and none of leafs have been wrinkled.
I had heard that lack of water makes root growth – is it true?

Got a picture of the soil/pot? These plant can take a good bit of water when it’s in full sun and growing. But it really depends on substrate.

I don’t think mine have ever gotten this wrinkly but I haven’t had a problem with new growth. Doesn’t hurt them to be this dry but I do think it’s not necessary unless you’re forcing them to flower and seed.
