CASPER, Wyo. — The Natrona County Fire District recently announced that firefighters were dispatched by the Casper-Natrona County Public Communications Center to a wildland fire near Desert Garden Circle, off of Cole Creek Road.
According to a social media post from the NCFD, the fire burned approximately 1 acre and destroyed personal property, including a camper.
“Thanks to clear access roads and fuel mitigation work already done by a neighboring homeowner, crews were able to contain and extinguish it very quickly,” the NCFD wrote.
Agencies on scene included:
Natrona County Fire District
Natrona County Sheriff’s Office
Evansville Fire-EMS
Casper Fire-EMS
Bar Nunn Fire Department
Bureau of Land Management – High Plains District
Natrona County Emergency Management
The cause was determined to be a natural, organic start — in other words, spontaneous combustion of ignitable fuels.
“A huge shout out to every firefighter, deputy, and partner agency who responded today,” the NCFD wrote. “Wildland fire season is here, and it looks like it’s going to be a tough one. Stay safe out there and keep your defensible space ready!”
