PLUM CITY – Discover everything you need to know to grow and save your own seeds at this free class at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26 at Plum City Public Library, 611 Main St., Plum City!
Learn how to eat year-round from your garden using seeds you save and grow yourself and discover heirloom vegetables passed down over generations, some by local families! The library will also open their annual seed library during the program, presented by Kathleen Plunkett-Black.
Plunkett-Black of Plum Creek Seeds has been a seed saver and homestead subsistence gardener for over 30 years. She is a longtime member of Seed Savers Exchange and now grows seeds for more than 200 varieties of vegetables. She will share her experience saving and sharing seeds, explain why growing our own seeds is important, and talk about how to get started with some of the easiest crops to grow and save yourself. Participants are welcome to bring a rough map or sketch of their garden area to use in planning. No registration required.
