The Goods from The Garden Strathcona
Vancouver, BC | The Garden Strathcona has spent the past seven years building a thoughtful, multi-layered hospitality space in Strathcona, combining café service, retail, and a steady rhythm of community-driven events. Now, with a new wine bar, expanded food program, and a hidden back patio on the way, the business is entering a more ambitious phase.
We are looking for a General Manager to take full ownership of the operation and help shape what comes next. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a complex, multi-concept space that includes café service, an evolving wine bar, retail, and a growing events program. You’ll work closely with an established leadership team to bring structure, clarity, and consistency across the business while driving performance and growth.
You are:
● An experienced hospitality leader with 5+ years in a General Manager or senior role
● Confident managing a P&L, budgets, and performance metrics
● Highly organised with strong attention to detail and follow-through
● Comfortable leading across multiple departments, including kitchen, bar, retail, and events
● Calm, decisive, and solutions-focused under pressure
● A systems thinker who can build structure in complex environments
● Motivated by ownership, accountability, and long-term growth
You will:
● Oversee daily operations across café, wine bar, kitchen, retail, and events
● Lead and align a senior team including Assistant Managers, Head Chef, and Kitchen Manager
● Own financial performance, including labour, COGS, and overall profitability
● Develop and optimise the wine bar and food program alongside kitchen leadership
● Ensure strong execution across events, private bookings, and retail operations
● Build systems, SOPs, and communication tools that support consistency at scale
● Identify and execute growth opportunities across service, events, and new revenue streams
What we offer:
● Salary starting from $65,000, with performance-based bonus structure
● Annual profit-sharing tied to overall business performance
● Extended health benefits including dental and vision care
● Paid time off and flexible scheduling
● Mileage reimbursement and store discounts
● A high level of autonomy and trust
● The opportunity to play a key role in future expansion and new concepts
This is a leadership position with real scope. The foundation is already in place, and the next phase will be defined by how well it’s structured, scaled, and executed. If you’re someone who likes building systems, leading teams, and turning ideas into working operations, this role will hold your attention.
Applicants should be legally able to work in Canada.
