Looking to get some ideas on my backyard and what I should do with it. This used to be all rock bordered with a retaining wall in the back and a massive ash tree stump. Had someone come remove all the rock and now I’m trying to decide if it is better to throw down turf or lay down sod. There is a sprinkler system already installed but I’m not sure of the state it’s in since the backflow valve is leaking and the system has been off for years. There are a few sprinkler heads that are broken and were found during the rock removal. I’m not really looking to spend a ton to get this looking good and useable for my 2yr old. I do have a dog who currently uses the backyard but that could be managed. Measurements are 30ft from patio to block wall and 55ft from block wall to block wall (length). There’s some dirt on the sides of the house but I have plans for that (storage shed setup).
Do I fix the sprinkler system and lay sod or go the turf route? I’m in AZ for weather purposes.
