Amazon delivery driver throws parcel over hedge
A neighbour was left stunned after their CCTV camera caught an Amazon delivery driver throwing a parcel over a hedge and into a garden.
The concerned resident, who asked not to be named, captured the incident on Tuesday, March 3, as the driver delivered a package to a house on Broad Park in Launceston.
The footage shows the driver walking from their van to the front of the recipient’s house before casually hurling the package into the garden, and taking a photo.
The neighbour was in disbelief at what they’d seen.
The neighbour said: “I couldn’t believe it, and the cheeky guy photographed it as it was going over.”
“It was hilarious, it’s just unbelievable, he would’ve had to walk another 20 yards to get to the door.”
The delivery photo sent to the parcel recipient, seen by Cornwall Live, shows a view of the hedge the package was thrown over, and the house in the background. The photo contains no sight of the parcel.
The recipient of the parcel, who also asked to remain anonymous, confirmed to the neighbour that the contents were unbreakable, though felt that was beside the point.
The neighbour added: “It wasn’t breakable so it was lucky really. You don’t treat a parcel like that, you don’t just lob it into someone’s garden.”
The CCTV footage has been sent to Amazon who are reviewing the incident.
The neighbour claimed Amazon told them it was “under investigation”.
“There’s no investigation needed, its clear as day, just don’t do it again. It’s just hard to get your head around, most delivery drivers are good, they’re there to do a job,” said the neighbour.
Amazon said it is looking into the claims.
A spokesperson for Amazon said: “We have very high standards for our delivery service partners and we’re looking into this.”
