I did a full renovation last year. Killed my Bermuda lawn that was super patchy and full of weeds. Went with Twin Cities Resilience II. I can definitely say that it's going well, and that's due to the prep work. Maintaining this lawn is actually super easy right now because of all the hard work I put in to get it here. Irrigation is definitely key. All that time I spent digging trenches in 100+ degree heat last year is definitely paying off. I still have a lot of work ahead of me, clearing the weeds and dead Bermuda out of the surrounding gravel. And I know the Bermuda will still rear it's ugly head every now and then, so I'll be treating periodically with Fusilade II. Random other landscaping projects I need to finish here as well. But the lawn is great and I added some landscape lighting last night. I'm pretty happy. Anyway, if you're planning to do a renovation or any other landscaping projects this year, do it! Here's your motivation!

Can I ask a question as a landscape design student? Why no flower bed? No foundation planting? You did all the work that would be required to install something really gorgeous – I can tell because the lawn looks great, you clearly did the work. I’m wondering about the process behind your choice.
As a design student I’m still struggling to make and justify my choices, so I get real curious about the design choices other people make.
Lawn looks fab but that tree dead center is killing the vibe. Nix the tree and make a planting bed in front of the house. Maybe an odd umber of bowling ball arborvitself, something evergreen that doesn’t overpower the house.
Great look! And did you get that criss-cross pattern with mowing/trimming? Thanks for sharing.
