Shoppers could save nearly £30 when sprucing up their gardens with a B&M buy that serves a double purpose. Compared to a similar product on Amazon, B&M’s £20 Solar Powered Metal Side Table offers great value for a practical item for summer nights.
The outdoor furniture piece serves as more than just a ‘convenient’ place to rest a drink as people gear up to enjoy the spring and summer weather. The self-assembled item doubles up as a subtle light source during the evenings due to its built-in practical feature.
Throughout the day, this table absorbs sunlight, which powers the ‘hidden’ LED solar lights beneath. As night descends, the table emits a warm white glow beneath it, providing additional light without the need for a lamp or other fixture to obstruct the view, and without unsightly wires on display.
B&M bosses said: “A stylish metal table that provides ambient solar lighting at night. Modern, round design that will suit any garden or outdoor space.”
A similar table is available on Amazon for £49.99. Its Rightclick Solar Powered Metal Garden Side Table offers the same warm white illumination and matches the metal design exactly, with leg supports divided into the same three sections, reports the Mirror.

Amazon claims its table has a “contemporary” rounded design with an “elegant vertical bar cage” and a “sleek black powder-coated finish”. The product description further adds: “This [table] serves as both a practical side table for drinks, books, or decorative items during the day and an ambient lighting feature for evening outdoor relaxation.
“After dusk, it transforms into a subtle lighting feature with six integrated warm white LED lights. The solar-powered technology eliminates the need for wiring or electricity costs – simply position the table where it can absorb sunlight during the day and enjoy the gentle illumination throughout the evening.”
The significant difference comes from the price tags each item carries. Despite their striking similarity, B&M is charging £20 to collect this from stores across the UK, where Amazon is demanding nearly £50.

In other B&M news, customers are also using the discount store’s latest collection to enhance their home interiors. One practical item is the £20 unit, which “helps keep kids’ bedrooms tidy” while keeping their favourite books and toys within reach.
Shopping at B&M for furniture could lead to substantial savings for customers looking to make stylish upgrades to their homes. Another item that could save people money without compromising on style is the “stunning” £40 light oak coffee table that looks “just like” something sold for £154 at Homebase.
The majority of the current collection can be viewed online here, but customers cannot order it and must visit stores to make a purchase. There are more than 770 B&M stores in the UK as of early 2026 across numerous towns and cities.
Customers can locate their nearest branch using the online tool here, which requires a postcode to find nearby stores. It provides various information such as opening hours and contact details.
