Im not an expert or anything but that doesn't look like a leaf?? Pardon me if this sounds foolish, but is that… trying to flower?

None of my cucumbers have more than 2 true leaves but several of them are growing this weird fuzzy bundle of something.

What do I do? Please send help.

trying to make a flower so it can die, its starving

I think some imbalance in the fertilizer or stress is causing it to flower. Not enough nitrogen and maybe a lot of Phosphorus and Potassium triggering it to flower.

I’d just pinch these buds so it doesn’t put too much more energy into them

I’ve had this happen once and i pinched off the flowering area and had no issues and still had plenty of cucumbers…actually i’ve only ever had an abundance of them, happy planting. 🤍

  5. Stress will make them flower as a survival mechanism. It may be fine if whatever stressed it out is resolved.

Reading your other responses, you’re just overdoing it.

Get a good seed starting mixture and don’t worry about any kind of fertilizer until they’re well established out in the garden. 10-10-10 for seedlings is like feeding a baby with candy and soda. Won’t grow right.

The seed starting mixture will have enough nitrogen available, which is mostly what the little ones need beside light, air and water.

You really don’t need to boost the phosphates or potassium until the plants are bigger and you’re trying to induce extra blooms rather than more greenery.

The seedling stage is also as much or more about the roots you can’t see than the green stuff you can. Slow and steady growth up top usually means the plant is focused on putting down lots of healthy roots.
