MILTON, Fla. — For decades, Coldwater Gardens in Milton had been operating as both a wedding venue and campsite in the Florida Panhandle.
That was until the venue’s owners sold the property abruptly and canceled dozens of weddings.
Some were booked out as far as 2028, while others were booked as soon as 18 days from now.
Many couples didn’t receive official notice that their wedding was canceled until after questioning the venue directly.
One couple told WEAR News they received a message from property manager Tim Whiteley saying, “Coldwater Gardens has been listed for sale for several years and we have recently accepted an offer.”
In the email, Whiteley went on to say the new owners do not plan on honoring any of the existing contracts, meaning all weddings after April 1 were cancelled.
“Nobody ever told us that this property was for sale,” the couple said. “There was no communication on that — and I mean there was nothing on their website saying that.”
“I want to see Tim not doing this anymore to other brides,” the couple added. “I want to make sure that other people don’t go through what we’ve gone through or all of the other couples have gone through.”

Refunds are expected to be sent out mid-April. But the couple says they’re out more than just the cost of the venue.
