I’ve been growing dahlias for a few years now, doing fairly well… I now grow exclusively in grow bags… I was wondering if I could do more than 1 per bag… mostly because I wanna buy more 😂

I have 10 20-gallon bags. 2 years ago I put only 2 per bag, of 2 varieties, last season I put 3 each. Some never grew (I had issues and the tubers hadn’t sprouted, I had put them in soil as a last hope). (picture wasn’t for the dahlias but you can see 2 of them in front)

It’s only for my own enjoyment… I love having enough flowers in a bag/on a plant that I can cut a few and there are still a few on the plant, so having just 1 tuber and then a plant only produces one at a time isn’t as fun.

But I dont’ want to ruin them either!

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:

When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!

*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).

If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.

If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

Hear me out. More but smaller grow bags. I keep seeing 5-7 gallons recommended for single Dahlias.
