I needed to cut this tree that had a hole in the middle, I got the top part and everything fine, until got to the hole section.
When I cut it, it was mushy in the inside and smelly. I started to carved with my hand until noticed this white things that were moving.
What are those things? Should I be worried for the other trees? I am in Michigan.

I was about to say grubs… but yours look different from what I’m used to. Some kind of borer though.
