South facing, zone 7a. Had construction done recently and compacted clay and rocks to clear. Open to any ideas!

Hmmm not sure about that landscaping but that down pipe needs to be extended or put underground so the water doesn’t pool against the foundation causing it to sink and crack 👌

You could do some semi shallow beds. I bought a twin pack of 8x4x1 off Amazon for $40. It would cover up the foundation, and also be decently high so the clay doesn’t suffocate plant roots. I have a ton of red clay here and it’s a pain in the ass. I can get things to grow, but not well. The most expensive part would be dirt. You can typically source it from a load and go type place cheaper than buying bags. It may take looking around because I’ve looked up places where it would be cheaper to get bagged soil, and other places where a full cubic yard, enough to fill a 8x4x1 is only $50 instead of $300. Then you could plant anything you wanted that loves sunlight.
