  1. Zone 9a. Someone else did nice work before we moved in, but that NBA level skill of killing plants got me. Now I have 3 measly grasses and no idea what to place here. It’s also kind of a weird shape and I don’t want to limit walkway access. All these things have led me to analysis paralysis. If anyone has some ideas I’d be eternally grateful 🙏. Bonus points if cats, flies, or mosquitos hate some of the things.

    Google lens tells me these trees are a Texas mountain laurel on the left and an American plum on the right. The area gets about 4 hours of sunlight a day, otherwise sees a lot of shade. Drip irrigation present!

    Sedum clavatum! A plants could very well cover the area in a few years. You don’t even really need to water them, thr natural wets will do just fine.
