Looking for tips on how to get rid of weeds from the paves and stop it from growing. I own a pet dog so it needs to be pet friendly.

Boiling water. It’ll take a little time given the amount there but should work. You’ll need to keep on top of it m

  2. Either
    A) embrace them, they’re providing an ecosystem for biodiversity OR
    2) poor vinegar over them and then hand pull them
    3) pour boiling water over them

Just be aware that pulling them out promotes a niche for new weeds to establish where the old weeds grew, so weed removal will need repeating forever.

I would get some preprepared weed killer and spray the weeds. Most are glyphosate based which shouldn’t be a risk to your dog. There are some acidic contact based herbicides as well if you do not like glyphosate.

If you want to avoid poisons, Sharp edged spade or similar to remove, then keep them down with a gas torch.

Other options as mentioned, boiling water is very affective and only residual is water, vinegar also effective but there is residual and can affect soul ph.

Whipper snip those buggers. I did this for my daughter when they moved out of a rental. I started to hand pull them out but after 30 minutes and doing less than 2m² I have in. In the next 10 minutes, I completed a 15m x 15m area that looked like the photos when she moved in.

Boil a kettle. Pour it over the weeds. Once shrivelled, let them dry then brush them away.

Hot water. Not permanent but better than pesticides if you like the organic approach

My husband uses the whipper snipper, but it’s an ongoing thing.

Polymeric sand after pressure washing to clean pavers and blast weeds

  11. Pathweeder – several companies have versions. Don’t use a sprayer – use a watering can so you get enough into the cracks. It’s a soil sterilant rather than a weed killer (but it will kill the weeds) and gives you about 12 months before you get any re-growth.

Whippersnip it down to nothing, blow it all away. Then apply Glyphosate. Keep dog off it for 1 or 2 hours.

Do not be concerned about using Glyphosate around your dog. Just keep him inside while you spray. He will be fine! There’s probably more Glyphosate in the food he eats then what he would get on his paws – which is already bound to other particles by then anyway.

Then you apply glyphosate once a month or so. There will be a massive seed bank there but after a year or two you will find little to no weeds grow as there’s just no seeds left between the cracks.

The other option for longer term maintenance is to pressure wash the pavers, being sure to blow out atleast some or all of the dirt between the pavers. When it’s dry you spread polymeric sand bags over the top, you sweep it in between all the cracks until they are all filled up. Then wet the area and it will set between the cracks similar to concrete and you won’t get any weeds for a while!

I do not recommend salt. Don’t do it. It’s an ecological disaster.

    Speaking from tonnes of experience!

100% / undilute slasher or glyphosate in a spray bottle.
Better results if you mix them both together 50/50
    Cover with plastic sheet.

    Or boiling water eta
