I have planned garden bed area that gets around 5 hours of direct sunlight but for about 3 hours it’s dappled due to surrounding pine trees. Is there any way to help maximize the little light that comes through as major tree work isnt in budget right now? less

You could incorporate tall, sun-loving plants (corn, beans etc) in the garden bed and plant the more delicate stuff in the shade that is a thrown by those taller plants

One of my plots has similar lighting and grows fine veggies.

I grow a decent amount of veggies without full sun. Do they get the best production? Likely no, but it’s enough. In the middle of summer I think a lot of the plants actually enjoy a break from the sun beating on them. Watering needs could be a little lower. On the other hand, it’s going to be tricky to grow very large fruits like melons, huge tomatoes and also long season crops. I’d keep an eye on the days to maturity when selecting seeds and know that whatever it says, it will take longer.
