I’m honestly feeling sad and worried right now. I ordered a dahlia from a seller nearby (only about 2 hours away), but the courier took six days to deliver it.
During the delivery, there was even a day with no tracking update at all, and the delivery date kept changing. Only after I complained did it finally get delivered. By the time it arrived, the plant already looked very stressed.😿
I’m not here to blame anyone… I just really want to save this dahlia if it’s still possible. Dahlias are one of my favorite flowers, and I was really excited to grow it.
Has anyone here experienced something similar with dahlias stuck in transit for several days?
Is there anything I can do right now to help it recover and survive?
Any advice would really mean a lot. I just want to give this little dahlia the best chance to live. 🌱

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:
When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!
*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).
If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.
If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

Tragic! Cut it all the way back, should be ok.
I feel your pain. Trim off all diseased foliage and repot. While repotting, check for any mushy tubers and remove.
Keep it in bright light but no direct sunlight. Water minimally.
If the central stem looks healthy, your plant should recover just fine. If the central stem is mushy or black, you’re fighting a losing battle 🙁
Give it a bit of a cleanup, it looks likes there’s a lot of good growth behind the ugly. It’s going to look much less tragic after a bit of a haircut, and then you’ll be able to truly assess any real damage. As long as the tubers didn’t get destroyed, you’ll never even know it looked like this by the end of the season.
