I sent you guys a tip on Envii extra clear pond additive. I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling. I cannot recommend it because I never used it in my pond. But I heard they had good reviews.

Laura, have you considered Iris tectorum, aka Japanese roof iris? It is a shade tolerant iris, hardy to zone 4.
