March is a wonderful month for sowing vegetables, especially the cold-loving ones that tolerate frost. In this short video I share a selection of seeds you can start now, including lettuce, onions, peas, beetroot, coriander, parsley and more. Timing matters though — some crops such as cucumbers, sweetcorn and summer beans are better left until April, so it’s helpful to know what to prioritise now.

In Texas we are wearing t shirts, shorts and flip flops.😮
Thank you for the reminder! Just got started with seeding a lot of these yesterday! (S. Louisiana, US)
I’ve made a start and it’s not bad considering some of the seeds were a tad old. However I have now received new ones from
‘premier Seeds’. I have started watching’Rewilding Jude’ on here and I mentioned you in his comments section. I notice he has your “”’No dig’ book 👏.
❤
Obrigado pela explicação e não tenho mais seus vídeos obrigado por compartilhar ❤
Should I be sowing these seeds in West Cumbria? Don't have heat mats though.
With poppies, especially the breadseed types, I usually make a bed in the fall and in spring when there is still snow on the ground, I sprinkle the poppy seeds right on the snow. For one reason I get a better germination when I do this. An older lady told me thats how she sowed hers. Plus, she said she loves how they just spring up wherever they want in her big mixed flower beds.
She has several types that basically self seed and spring up everywhere. My favorite looks like a bright pink pompom. She also taught me to use a lighter and singe the cut stem of poppies if i pick them for bouquets ❤
She mentioned a way to freeze the poppy seeds in ice cubes and toss them out in spring bit she never tried it
Great i have the 60 cd trays i will now use them for some peas 👍🫛
Your greenhouse is so tidy. I am green with envy. 💚😂
You’re fabulous thanks Charles. My wife and I can follow your methods whilst getting on with our busy jobs. It relieves us of so many headaches just to follow your hard work and so be able to enjoy the results. ❤ thank you and yours!
Is it too early to propagate dog puke slime molds????
Love your videos ! You are a real source of inspiration for me , thank you!
At the moment I do not have any indoor or greenhouse space and I was wondering if I could direct sow all of those directly outside in zone 8b?
Thank you so much it is a joy to watch these 😊
Trays on top of compost is so brilliant
Zone 4B, southern Alberta Canada – I have to wait a few more weeks, sadly.
Thanks Charles! Always a pleasure to see what you’re up too.
Today.. hubs has sown.. Red and white onions.. Spring onions.. Garlic.. various first and second early potatoes..
Love your videos.
Thanks as ever for your advice!
Can I ask what you do with the tomatoes once they've sprouted. Will you keep them in the unheated greenhouse? I. E. Not on the hot bed…?
Zone 6B here, Midwest USA and it is bananas. Our high yesterday was 84, our high today was 46 and last night we had 3 to 4 in size hail…yay! 😅
Very nice
Nice healthy seedlings. I’m looking forward to putting my onions out. It was 71 two days ago and now snowing today. I will cover them. Thank you. 🌱
Preordered your book! Very excited for a new read from you 🎉
Zone 6a-
Cabbage, cauliflower
Early in the year avoids that bugs of summer, and chance to mature before the heat.
All fast growing varieties
Crazy temps here. 3 spinach wintered over no cover except snow now melted. Garden covered w. 3x's chop brown leaves. Soil is 50F. Raining now. Soil will have to dry. Ct Valley. Love your videos. Thank you Charles.
Thank you for all these inspiring videos, Charles!
You always inspire me Charles. Thank you.
Before watching this i'm taking a guess, broad beans?
Hi Charles. How do you deal with pests like thrips and Spider mate attacking your seedlings?
I'm encouraged to see the poppies sown in a typical seed tray. I've read so much about them not transplanting well because of their root system that I've been hesitant/trying to figure out the best route to success.
Love these updates and reminders! I’m hoping I don’t regret sowing my tomatoes in snail rolls? Ever fine if before . Normally use modules but as limited space thought I’d give it a go 😊
I am in the Pacific Northwest, USA. I have a greenhouse, but have to hand carry water, since we can have frost, as late as May.
What is the best time to sow beetroots in the ground thank you !
I'm in Los Angeles on the coast, zone 11b, and we're having heat waves already 90F deg. Been scrambling to get things growing before a possible brutal summer. We may get the May and June cool gloom weather before the heat, one can't predict. I've already got some hot crops in, tomatoes, peppers, summer squash and eggplant, but the day length is still shorter as the sun is still low.
Great content as usual something I’ve noticed this year and last year my seedlings rocket up from my warmed shed then when germinated then into the green house in your modules. And then they just go stationary for weeks to a month no second leaves. The compost I use is moorland gold. We are sometimes getting warm days and sun. In the end I have to plant them out but way too small. And if you have any slugs they can be wiped out in one sitting. When I see yours they look a lovely size in a shorter time ready to plant out.
