Detectives have charged 40-year-old James Edward Palmer III with felony death by distribution.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A man has been arrested nearly two years after a 20-year-old’s death in Pleasant Garden, authorities say.

Guilford County Sheriff’s Office detectives have charged 40-year-old James Edward Palmer III with felony death by distribution in connection with the death of Prince Jeremiah Reid.

Sheriff Danny H. Rogers said detectives with the agency’s Major Crimes Investigative Unit initially responded May 11, 2024, to the 5800 block of Cheshire Drive to investigate the death of 20-year-old Prince Jeremiah Reid.

After an investigation and with assistance from the Guilford County District Attorney’s Office, detectives obtained the charge against Palmer.

Palmer was arrested Thursday and is being held at the Guilford County Detention Center under no bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.
