Join the Coastal Garden Club on Monday, March 16, at 9:30 a.m. for a presentation titled “Plant This Instead and Native Container Gardening” presented by Brunswick County Horticulture Agent Taylor McDaniel. The meeting will be held in the Shallotte Presbyterian Fellowship Hall, located at 5070 Main St. in Shallotte.
During her power-point presentation, McDaniel will make attendees aware of which popular and exotic plants are invasive in the area and which native plants are better, more beneficial options.
Attendees will also learn how to use native perennials in easy to manage container gardens as well as in the landscape. The meeting will begin with a floral design workshop taught by member and Accredited Flower Show Judge, Graceann Phillips. The demonstration will highlight special design techniques used to create a long, low “Coffee Table” designs.
Monthly Club meetings are held September through May on the third Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the Shallotte Presbyterian Church. Guests are always welcome to attend. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in floral design, horticulture, home gardening and community service.
