Hi Luke. Another great video. Could you do one on how to get kohlrabi to “bulb”. I only can get leaves… thanks
I soak my pepper seeds for 24 hours before planting them and then I place their pots on heating pads. I have almost 100% germination within 5 days on all of my peppers that way. My problem is I can never get big bell peppers.
Thank you for the info! You're always a huge help to ppl from the mitt
Thanks you did help me out . I did just a had transplanted to early to 3 incher and now almost all of them have died.. 🥺. So now I know to keep them in little cells longer .. thanks 👍🏽
Artichoke help!!!
Personally I don’t care for hot peppers but I grow Ghost and Reapers, dry and grind them into a powder. Mix it in a sprayer and use it as a safer natural rodent deterrent. I have pets and kids and don’t like poisons in or around my garden so this is a good alternative.
THYME
For the love of God. I’m having a horrible time growing thyme. Current best success is having them on a wet paper towel, with a single (split) layer of paper towel on top, so they can be seen and see the light. They get little tails and I set them on top of the seed starting mix using a small paintbrush, but now I’m stalled.
Luke i run a small csa farm and have grown my own indoor cannabis for over 20 years. What about the moist paper towel in a baggie until the tap root appears? And what about coco coir for drainage? I mix both peat and coco in my potting mix. And yes I've been watching since you were a teenager.
Thank you for all your very informative videos! I had a great garden, especially my pink brandy wine tomatoes, because I did what you suggested.
High school days.
I WENT ON YOUR STOREFRONT ON AMAZON AND I CAN’T FIND THE TRAYS THAT YOU TALKED ABOUT IN THIS VIDEO WHERE IT’S JUST THE 1 INCH MAYBE I’M LOOKING IN THE WRONG PLACE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Good points in here. I'll have to try some of these out next year. My most consistent results for peppers is in starting them in moist paper towels and transferring to seed trays once sprouted, but they sometimes don't handle the transfer well. Peppers can be a challenge to grow.
Thank you Luke. I didn't know how to use my heatmat properly. Thanks for setting me straight😅
Tweezers work excellently.
You have helped me a ton! I think I found you 7 years ago. Congratulations on all your success!
Do peppers need light to germinate?
I've been watching you for 7 years, since before the pandemic. But I went back and watched your older ones too. You've always given the best gardening advice! ❤
HELP! This year I'm m trying seed snails with the peat moss seed starter mix you recommended and its not going well! 😅😅😅😭😭😭😭
I watched you from the beginning Luke!!
For whatever reason, I’ve never had any trouble germinating and transplanting out peppers. My struggle every year is fruit size. Grande jalepenos, not grande and bells just small. They should love my SCA heat. Maybe better or more fertilizing.
Don't grow nightshade plants but hope y'all have great success
I’ve really been enjoying your videos. Thank you for being so thorough in your explanation as I am pretty new to the big gardening world and want to take on a ton but being realistic that I will be making mistakes while I learn.
I would recommend using a larger seed cell tray to start as well…that one in the video is tiny!
Maybe next year I’ll have to buy smaller cell trays. I’m having issues still with my peppers after 5 years of growing on a bigger scale after moving to North Idaho from Oregon. I just started more peppers yesterday because I have only 11 jalapeños from about 50 that germinated since planing February 7th. I planted them in a 72 cell tray. I love making our own salsas, chili powder and hot sauce. All requires a lot of peppers. Hopefully my second batch will do better. I made the seed planting mix the way Luke showed us.
I have a strong dislike for those tiny trays😂❤
@migardener what are your thoughts on starting peppers in the snail method?
My pepper seeds are gemmating in between a paper towel. last night my heat mat for some reason the mat got hot like over 100 degrees. they were covered so they stayed damp. do I need to start over?
I've watched you grow up LOL
Super hot chilies can be handled by us normies if you dry them and turn them into powder or as hot sauce. I've been growing for years and I've never eaten a raw superhot.
I’ve been watching you 5 years, you have helped me so much! I’m in MN so similar climate. I have a hard time getting petunia and impatiens to grow from seeds!
Can you give more information on growing with biodegradable cups for starting seeds
You should put out a rap album about gardening.
I used to have a really hard time starting papers but this year,I rolled what you said to do and they all turned out fantastic
Great video. Thanks for explaininhmg about consistency for soil type and watering.
It's been like 10-11 years. Time sure flies by.
I love those original videos of young Luke! Your enthusiasm hasn’t diminished through all these years. Thank you for teaching and growing with me on my own gardening journey!
Great video, as always! And I was cracking up because after terrible germination rates on my hot peppers (as usual), I finally said screw it, went to the garden center, and just bought seedlings lol.
Hi Luke. I've been following your channel since you first started on YouTube. Keep up the good works.
Really good video! 🎉
Started watching you in 2020 – pandemic times – when I started watching a few YouTube gardening channels. One thing I like about your channel, besides your wealth of knowledge/experience is that you're close to my zone, I'm in Chicago. Don't have as much time to watch these days, but you are my go to.
Love that you carry bootstrap farmer on your site, wish you would get the 72 cell air prune trays!
I’ve been with you since 2011; I quit working after the army relocated my husband to Houston from California. That’s when I took up gardening and needed your help badly. ☺️
Thank you Luke, Judy
❌⭕️🙏🏽♥️
Passion fruit seeds. Never germinate for me lol tips?
Been watching you since 2021, when I first got interested in gardening. My husband is from Michigan (near Traverse) so I was happy to watch just because of the name and then realized I love your videos. They are so helpful and you are such a good teacher, and fun to watch. This vid is perfect, I really need help with my peppers lol
This video is perfect timing because I am having such a hard time with my pepper seedlings. Im going to start another set this weekend with the soaking method. I don’t have a heating mat but I will put it on top of my fridge and hope of the best 😂
What about pre-chitting them on damp paper towel under these ideal circumstances? Wouldn’t laying them on top of damp. Paper towel be more helpful with moisture control.
I live in So Cal & we had a very warm winter. It’s already in the high 80° to 90° here, so I’m starting my seeds outside this year.
