Wick and District Gardening Club held its annual bulb show at the Pulteney Centre, with a fine display of entries judged by James and Jo Walker.
Carol Grant opened the meeting and introduced guest speaker Lilian Wark, the club’s vice-chairperson. Lilian gave members an informative talk about her work as a volunteer with the Friends of Newtonhill Woodland.
She spoke about how the area is used for a variety of community events and highlighted some of its special features, including the peaceful cottage garden and a productive vegetable patch.
Lilian also spoke about Newton Croft cottage, which is used by the volunteers and for community gatherings. She brought along several handmade creations which are used around the woodland to help identify specific areas.
