Early spring here in Texas, and my Live Oak is covered in moss and not really growing new leaves. My red bud is doing great, and my neighbors' live oaks are doing okay too. The branches are still pliable, and the leaves are still green. Is this nothing to worry about? Do I need to get an arborist out here to look at it?

1) The moss is superficial and not a concern. Don’t worry about that.
2) All live oaks look like shit this time of year. Despite them being “evergreen,” they do shed their leaves every spring and grow new ones. Young trees like this have fewer leaves than mature live oaks, and so can look more concerning.
Reassess in a month. If it still looks bad then, then I would have someone look so it.
