Autumn blaze maple…I know I was warned about such a choice and here we are two years later.
Planted it at about 12 feet tall, did great first year then after returning from a week vacation 6 months ago in the summer this, whatever it is started and never slowed down.
Can anyone tell me what they think happened, disease or damage? I came home from the vacation and it looked like someone had put a firecracker under the bark kind of explosion outwards, ringed horizontally and has continued to eat away at the tree.
Replacing this spring RIP

Lol probably a few kms away no chance one is coming through these suburbs though
