Saw this sideways “half vase” at Homegoods and wondering if it would be ok to put my pothos propagations in it? Final location will be on top of a bookshelf so the plant grows down the side.

You’re supposed to mount this on a wall. See the little hole?

Be careful with the pothos on top of a bookshelf unless you have a grow light. Nearly killed one of mine then realized the sun never reached the top leaves. They all fell off.

Awe that’s a cute way to use it sideways as a pot! Pothos are really chill about pretty much everything, I think you should do it! A serving tray under it to catch the water would be really cute with it too

I call these welcome pots or tilted pots. That’s a drainage hole at the bottom. Great idea for a bookshelf but you should use a saucer so it doesn’t damage the shelf 🙂

i know everyone already said yes – but yes! Pothos aren’t supposed to really be in containers full of dirt at all. They’re supposed to be in trees, growing massive fenestrated leaves that soak up the sun.
if you did get the vase, I hope you post pics of the results!

This isn’t a sideways “half vase”, it’s meant to be hung on a wall. That’s what the hole is for, and also the reason that it’s only half-round. Unfortunately, that little hole that’s meant for hanging won’t provide sufficient drainage for a plant.

Only questions are how will you water it and will the water drain towards that hole or will the curve of the pot slope away from the hole?

Go for it! If you want it to trail let it trail! You might want a grow light directed towards it at some point for that lush growth, and [these clip lights](https://www.sansiled.com/products/20w-adjustable-2-head-clip-on-led-grow-light-with-timer) are pretty flexible when it comes to placement. For a while, snip off a cutting every time a piece gets long and plant it back into the pot. You can either plant it directly or root it in water first. Either way, keep that spot consistently moist until you see new growth. It will be gorgeous.

    Yes…they’re pretty hardcore little plants.

I have a pothos in a sideways pot and it was great for the first few years but now there’s no room to add soil and the roots are stuck asf to the insides of the pot so I’ll have to break it to get out 😢 but your pot is bigger than mine, prob would last longer

OMG how much was this? Talavera pots are soooo expensive and I’ve been wanting one for ages!
