  1. But I can avoid a miserable life of peas by simply choosing never to have to eat them again! 😉 I'm not at all the target demographic here; peas are one of my most disliked vegetables. Tomatoes, now… I have Opinions about storebought tomatoes!

  2. Zone 9b here, 56 degrees at night, 90 during the day. We have roughly 2 months, interspersed throughout 4 months that wouldn't kill peas. I've never even tasted a home grown pea.

  3. How many canes are in your teepee tower and what is the base diameter? I'm intrigued by how close you space them 🫛🫛🫛

  4. For me, the game changer was kale. I couldn't understand why anyone would want to eat that tough, flavourless nonsense at the grocery store. And then I grew my own, and it was tender and sweet, and I could snack on it happily the whole long day ❤

  5. Hooray! Your book has arrived Huw and it's brilliant, photos beautiful, crop guide is extremely well organised with masses of information and the recipes look scrumptious …the humble broad bean can become falafel. Can't wait to try out the recipes. Well done to you and Sam.

  6. Bwhaaaaaa…..YES, peas please, peas for all…true friends don't let friends eat canned peas for goodness sake! 😂

  7. This is said kindly with a smile….. if there's one vegetable that is quintessentially Engerlish it's the mighty pea😂😂😂

  8. That made me laugh 😂 I actually like frozen peas but definitely not tinned. I shall be trying peas again this year.

  9. Oh you betcha. Peas grew, had some pods both very young and some that matured and ate the peas raw right away.
Then had some frozen peas cooked and ate those.
It felt like eating tasteless blunt round things with no meaning.

I can never go back to frozen peas from the supermarket again.
    I really can’t.

  10. I struggle with peas. I get a few but never had massive crops. The pisgeons just get to them first. It’s heartbreaking

  11. love it!!! When my peas are in full fruit, they never leave the garden. I pick and eat on the spot as did my kids when they were at home, and which they still do if the peas are ready when they visit.

  12. Homegrown peas are so delicious. I love them almost as much as my asparagus. That is a luxury. I have so many friends who are jealous of my asparagus but I figure they can put in an asparagus bed too, lol.

  13. You ain't seen smug gardeners until you've seen a gaggle of hardcore allotmenteers side eyeing eachother at the AGM and doing the 'casual stroll'/technical analysis round the plot site 🤣 who needs drama when you have an allotment 😂

  14. You're not wrong. Somehow this year I'm growing 8 varieties of pea – two early, two maincrop, one marrowfat, one for drying, one sugar snap and one mangetout. 10 years ago I would have said I don't really like peas!
