LAKETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — On Saturday, visitors to The Felt Estate near Saugatuck can attend a free home herb garden presentation from West Michigan culinary experts, including director of Eighth Day Farm, Andy Rozendaal.

“We’re going to focus on growing some herbs that people can grow in small spaces,” said Andy Rozendaal, director of Eighth Day Farm.

Windmill Island Gardens announces gardening class series

Beginning at 10 a.m., attendees will learn how to create a culinary herb garden in their own home through tips and advice from Rozendaal.

“This is perfect for beginners,” Rozendaal said. “Those folks that want to know a little bit more about what to do with their small spaces.”

At Eighth Day Farm, a Holland-based nonprofit, Rozendaal and his team work with the community to promote healthy ingredients and sustainable farming techniques.

“We try to focus on programs that really connect people with their food,” Rozendaal said. “We work with food pantries.”

Also at the workshop will be Cory Mitchell, a chef from The Beard & The Gal caterers, to discuss techniques and ideas for home cooks interested in growing their own herbs.
