Unbolt the bar and keep your saw. The bar belongs to the tree now.

  2. Well dont leave your saw there, but otherwise I agree. Might be worth it to just let it fall on its own time.

Only other option i see is attaching a rope somewhere to pull it out from a safe distance, but thats a bit risky also. Wouldn’t recommend in this situation.

  3. I would use a large pry bar to free the chain saw then might just leave the rest. You can cut the main trunk into smaller pieces if you have some wedges and a hammer to free the saw but not worth the effort imo

Beautiful view. Looks like the Minnesota River valley, where I grew up. Take the saw. Leave the bar with the tree, like the other guy suggested. I’d probably look a bit closer how its hung up. You might be able to do something to bring it down, so you don’t have a gigantic deadfall trap for the neighbor kids to mess with.

Goodness no. No guts, no glory. Throw a rope over it, Head up hill to the next biggest tree, come along attached to tree, voila, that tree would be grounded in no time. MINIMAL risk. When it comes to nature vs me, I’m winning.

Take another big log and throw it at it

Throw grapple hook over tree as high as can. Use long rope and winch around another tree safe distance. Use come along to pull down
